Fantastic Romantic Fantasy Reads – Indie and Traditionally published

Romantic Fantasy (sometimes called Romantasy) is having a moment.

If you’re like me, you want to read the best ones. And you want to read diversely, in all senses, meaning books written by authors of color, the LGBT community, and indie and traditionally published authors.

I got you with some juicy recs!

These are in no particular order and are my personal favorites plus a bonus book at the bottom.

Disclaimer: there are more books I could put here, but this is a short and sweet diverse list. I hope you can find something you enjoy on it. Perhaps I will make another list at another time.

Text taken from the book’s amazon page, so they are the author’s/publisher’s words, not mine. But the opinion that they should be listed here as fantastic romantic fantasy books is all mine!

Welcome to the passionate world of the Ever Kingdom where pirates, sirens, and fae collide with Vikings in a dark fantasy romance between a villain and the innocent princess who holds his heart.

Trials of the Sun Queen by Nisha Tuli

House of Crimson Hearts by Ruby Roe

This is a very steamy lesbian vampire romance with a sprinkling of enemies to lovers and second chance romance, royals, multiple POV and timelines, bratty bedroom vampires, exhibitionism, and more. Please check author website or look inside for the trigger warnings. 18+ only.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him.
